The Nigeria Police Force has prosecuted one Malam Maikano Ringim Arzikinka Mutane before the Kafin Madaki magistry court for alleged defamation of character of the Executive Chairman of Ganjuwa Local Government Area and inciting disturbance.
According to the prosecutor Sergeant Adamu Mai Riga on behalf of the Commissioner of police, Mai Kano Muhammad Ringim Intentionally went to the Globe FM Bauchi through their programme knowns as 'Tafarnuwa' and defamed the charecter of the exacutive chairman of Ganjuwa Local Government Hon. Dayyabu Muhammad Kariya in which he alleged that the chairman had acquired a farmland at Sumu wildlife Park "Game reserve" and he made the land available portion for sale which is contrary to the law of the forestry and land of the State.
He added that sometime in November 2021 the accused person made a statement by saying he arrested a motor vehicle conveying about 30 bags of rice which the chairman hervested from the portion of his farmland along Sumu to Kafin Madaki village road, which is contrary to section 392 and 114 of the penal code.
However during the trial, the counsel to the accused person Barrister Kasim Inuwa denied the allegations and asked for bail and the Court approved
The presiding magistry adjourned the case till 20/012/2021.
However, on the adjourned date the Court again adjourned the hearing till on 03/01/2022 and on that very day is a New year festival, later still adjourned to 10/01/2022.
When the accused person and his conusel failed to attend the hearing on 10/01/2022, the prosecutor urged the presiding magistry to withdraw his bail, which the judge approved.
The presiding magistry order for the arrest of Maikano Muhammad Ringim and remanded him in prison till the next adjourn date which is on 17/01/2022.
